The barn is ready!

It's all finished! I have everything in place for the girls' arrival on February 28th. I wish I had the words to describe how I felt. How I feel. The past month has been the most fantastic journey.

Ever since stumbling across Adiva's picture on January 28th, I've been on cloud nine. When I met her on February 14th, well, I can't tell you what she means to me. And then finding Anni...it has to be fate. Nothing else explains finding two horses who have both touched me so deeply.

I started getting the barn in order on February 15th and I've spent every waking moment out there preparing: pressure washed the stalls, concrete floors, rubber mats - replaced a leaking automatic stall waterer - installed two fans - added spacers in the stall walls to increase air flow - sprayed for weeds - treated for ants - organized the tack/feed room - restrung electric fence - weedwacked the fence lines - replaced gates. I still have to test the fence (but that barely counts, right?) and get a few supplies, but I'm very happy about how everything is going.

Tomorrow I have to pick up hay, grain and shavings. I'm sure there are a few other loose ends - because, of course, there always are. I will say I'm looking forward to possibly having Friday to relax and regroup before the girls get home. I'm sure it won't work out, but...it's a great idea!
