Farrier day!

Sunday, April 5, 2009

Today both girls get trimmed. I’m very excited - I’ve been working very hard with them, and I can’t wait to see how they act. I get there early, feed and groom the girls. I also braid their manes. Both girls are getting really sweaty under their thick manes, and are growing willy nilly so I want to train them now. They are learning to stand quietly, and both take naps while I groom and braid them. So proud!

Adiva was very good - stepped on the farrier once but otherwise was great, even when he burnt a line in a crack that was forming. Anni was equally good. She only tried to lay down once, which is a huge step from the first time she was done. Luckily, my farrier is a saint and just laughed it all off. I really lucked out with him.

The rest of the day was spent at a horse expo day, so the girls got a break. I was just too tired when I got home to do much else. Not that they cared - they just love any kind of attention, and so long as you love on them and give them cookies, they are happy. Work is highly overrated in their book. LOL, I don’t really blame them - work is sometimes way harder than it needs to be!
